I agree there are similarities between Christianity and Islam. I also agree that there extremists in both religions who distort the truth for their monetary and political gain.

As a Christian I believe that the only way to God is through His Son Jesus Christ who is God.

"Again there arose a division among the Jews because of these words. Many of them were saying, "He has a devil and is mad. Why do you listen to him?" Others were saying "These are not the words of one has a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?" Now there took place at Jerusalem the feast of the Dedication; and it was winter. And Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon's portico. The Jews therefore gathered round him, and said to him, "How long do you plan to keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us openly."
Jesus answered them, "I tell you and you do not believe. The works that I do in the name of my Father, these bear witness concerning me. But you do not believe because you are not of my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me. And I give them everlasting life; and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch anything out of the hand of my Father. I and the Father are one." The Jews, therefore, took up stones to stone him. Jesus answered them, "Many good works have I shown you from my Father. For which of these works do you stone me?" The Jews answered him, "Not for a good work do we stone you, but for blasphemy, and because, you, being a man, make yourself out to be God."

Contrary to what Islam believes, Christianity is not polytheistic in its core belief that Jesus is the Son of God and chose to send His Holy Spirit to his followers after his ascension into Heaven to sit at the right hand of God.

Here is a simple illustration. We know that water can be a liquid or freeze into an ice cube. We also know that if heated, water can become steam. However, it is still H2O.

Based on this simple illustration, it's not difficult to see that God can be the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It's also not hard to see with our understanding of quantum physics that God can be all three simultaneously.

My dear friend, Kapil, you are saying that Sikhism took birth in India? First of all i have to quote that Sikhism is not divinely revealed and and it's a philosophy rather than a religion. My Beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, no new faith will be revealed divinely. then you might ask "is there any other divinely revealed religions other than islam, if so, how can you say Islam is the truth?" i have to say that God sent many messengers to many nations at different times having the core concept that "there is none worthy to be worshipped other than Allah", but there were many slight differences because the religion or the way of life had to be suited to that particular nation. and the religion granted to Prophet Muhammad is the Islam which is the complete and combined version of all the previously revealed ones. Allah says in the Quran
"This day have I perfected for you your religion and completed My favor on you and chosen for you Islam as a religion."
- Qur'an 5:3

Dear Yasmine, thank you for your thoughtful posting. So much of the issues between Jews and Muslims seems often to stem from ignorance. As you have so sensitively described, when we reach out across the seeming gulf between different peoples, we find that there really wasn't a gulf there in the first place.
The first step is always the hardest, however. That is why it is vital to look into Jewish-Muslim history, and unearth forgotten stories of positive relations between the two peoples. I have spent many years looking at the fraternity between Jewish and Sufi mystics, contacts which actually helped reconfigure Jewish mysticism and practice, and as such am always a bit surprised when people react as if Jews and Muslims were always enemies. This is simply not the case, and your outreach work is simply the continuation of something that has been ongoing since the inception of Islam -- a shared Shabbat or Iftar dinner between the Abrahamic cousins.

It is not so weird that there are some people in Turkey do not like Gulen and his mission in dialogue. This fact does not mean that he is unwanted person in Turkey. As the researches on his ideology and works progress, more we will be able to know about him. The schools and organizations held by his follower are definetely welcomed many states in the world, though. All in all, he seems to stay as important figure in today's Islamic world.

Mr Dakes you are completely wrong, Quran and hadith (sayings of the prophet) go hand in hand and are two resources every muslim Must take into considerations when practising Islam, Im completely confident in stating that you have definitely not read the Quran, first of all you cannot read the Quran on its own, you need to know in what circumstances it was written in, directed at whom and why. You cannot read the Quran in english and presume you know it, I hope you do realise the Quran was revealed in Arabic therefore should be read in Arabic, words get distorted through translation, for example the misinterpretation of the word Idribu to mean 'beat' when it actually means 'to go away from' has let many non-muslims and muslims alike to assume that beating wives is a religious order, by the way the Quran does condemn slaverly, its haraam, no one has any right over no one, which is why we have no clergy or any type of hierarchy, yes we have those who are knowlegable in a certain topic, but we are not allowed to take their word for it, we use several sources to make sure. Stop making assumptions your embarrasing yourself by acting like a some sort of religious acadamic with extensive knowledge of Islam. Oh and another point slavery existed even in jesus time, he never condemned it, should I assume the entire religion is fake??? but as a Muslim I believe in Jesus and I know that Islam is an extension of christianity what was allowed at one time has to progress in time as society changes which is why in Prophet Muhammed's time slavery was abolished. My religion isnt fake, your the one spreading false information. Im doing my dissertation on the realities of Islamophobia and your a prime example, Good on ya!.

Nowhere in the Koran is there any mention of abolishing slavery, which places the religion in serious doubt. The Arabs were slave traders prior to Islam and remained slave traders. The reason for this evil practice was that Arabia was a barren terrain, the Arabs never learnt anything about agriculture, all they was how kidnap people, torture them till they break and consequently loose every sense of their humanity. Regardless of age or sex they were sold. To do all kinds of work and not get paid for it. Today slavery is a crime, but for thousands of years it was not. If Islam is truly a religion of mercy then it should have emphatically stated that slave trade is Haraam. But that would have ruined Arabian economy. When slavery was not abolished in Islam, then this religion is entirely fake.

IN this sermon it is said that no new faith will take birth , but sikhism a religion in India took birth approx 500 years from now, so doesn't this fact makes the last sermon wrong. Its a religion practised by over 20 million people.

Some say they are the best schools around, and some say they can’t be that good without support from global powers. Some say they serve for global peace, and some other say: “Don’t be naive they must have a hidden agenda”. I will not get into questions like “water of the mill” as they have been addressed previously. The main question I am going after is, what are really Gulen Schools? What makes them standout? How can you distinguish a Gulen School from any other public or community school?

None of that is going to happen, therefore the two sides are never going to stop fighting unless and until one of them is forced to do so. Period, end of sentence, end of paragraph, end of story. They have, as we say in the law, "irreconcilable differences." Unfortunately, they cannot divorce nor divest, which is usually the remedy for same. So this will go on. Forever. It's not going to stop. Ever.

If I had not already decided long, long ago that Bill Bonner is just right when he says that people come to believe the things they need to believe when they need to believe them, I would have no logical explanation for how anybody can believe in "the peace process." Israel is not going to give up Jerusalem, nor allow itself to be un-Jewished at a blow by granting the "Right of Return." The Palestinians are not going to settle for Jerusalem being held by Israel, nor will the surrounding Arab countries ever grant the sixty-year-plus "refugees" citizenship or take them out of their reverse Potemkin-villages. :)

We hate Gulen in Turkey and are glad he lives in exile in the USA- they can have his lying ways.
Gulen is NO SCHOLAR and only has a 5th grade education. Owns and controls media (Zamam today, Fountain and ERBU TV, etc)

In the USA Hizmet runs over 100 charter schools under a layer of Gulen network of foundations and Institutes. They are laundering money, embezzling and are guilty of visa fraud.

Gulen estimated worth is $25 billion. He is a LIAR,
The FBI and CIA watch him very closely.

I'm gonna get lit up by the softies but I'll say it anyway: If you want to live in America, learn English. We should not have to cater to immigrants who can't be bothered to try and assimilate. Also, pay taxes. I have an honest job and each paycheck a nice hefty chuck disappears to the government (the same government that wants to give these people drivers licenses..wtf). Diversity is great, but if you want to live here and expect people to welcome you with open arms, contribute to our culture.. don't try and resist it

The true kinship of faiths may be best found in their mystical traditions. Here is a brief quote from the e-book www.suprarational.org

Mysticism seeks to join, or unite, our inner self with the divine by spiritual disciplines of devotion, knowledge, selfless service, and/or meditation. What you do matters greatly to what you will become: that is divine justice. How you do it, through Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, or outside these faiths is important when it is the right way for you: that is divine law. One is Truth: true Reality transcends the boundaries of our beliefs. Thou art That: you are in the divine essence; you must be dedicated to fully realizing it.

Our religion may be right for us, nevertheless that does not mean billions of others are wrong. What of the 100 billion people who lived outside of our faith since the origin of our species? Religions do differ in approach, beliefs and practices, although the divine Reality they seek is the same. Their mystics used the words and concepts understood by followers of their faith, but these are just alternate ways of trying to express the One underlying Truth.

Pretty nice post, really informative stuff. Never considered I would find the tips I want right here. I have been looking everywhere in the internet for a while now and had been starting to get irritated. Thankfully, I stumbled across your blog and received precisely what I was struggling to find.
